Good job= no quilting time

Well, life definitely got in the way!

However my last post was about my military quilt. That quilt I am happy to report made 1,800 dollars for the fisher house Palo Alto,ca. I couldn't have been more thrilled to the outcome of my work. It was also a very emotional day for me as in front of my family and friends, my boyfriend proposed to me! Also, the winner of the quilt, a member of the legion post, donated it back to the post. So perhaps it might be raffled again.. Not sure just yet. If not than i am hoping to donate it to a veteran.

On to bigger and better things! Before i lost my last job... LONG STORY. I started making a quilt for my favorite little student. Well, i didn't get it finished before my job came to an end. Then as i worked madly to try and get it quilted; my sewing machine gave up. It was just far to thick and too much work. I had exceeded my overall expectations of this small machine. So off i went, jobless, looking for a new machine. I came across a traded Janome Memory craft machine. I had never considered janome due to the price but this one was within my budget at the time. Its love. I love this machine!!! It does everything i could possibly want, plus so stupid walking foot to attach and take off. LOVE!

Anyways, here is the quilt i had been working on for my student.

It isn't perfect by any means but i love the colors and the modern twist on a traditional design. The back is also pieced, using up all my scraps from the front.

I love this quilt in every single way. I love the back and its funky randomness and the bright gorgeous colors! Speaking of the colors, they are all different brands. I used yellow moda solid, blue/ green/ orange-red/ orange kona cottons and the grey is art gallery pure elements. All purchased from my local quilt shop the intrepid thread in milpitas. I still need to get a finished picture! The binding is a strip of each color bias joined around.

As much as i love it; i really want to finish my quilt!

My gorgeous civil war reproduction fabric quilt. I want this beauty on my bed so bad! But alas the blocks are just sitting in a corner like a bad puppy. Hopefully with the two weeks off i will have over Christmas break, i can change this. I still need to find an appropriate backing for it though. I want to stay will with full back since it is going to be queen sized. Most reproductions don't come in that width though. oh bother... guess that is life!
